چکیده
In recent years, the study of membrane processes for recovery valuable phenolic compounds from olive mill wastewater (OMW) has been intensified. The selected OMW pH ultrafiltration is one variables affecting productivity, selectivity and fouling. An in-depth characterization fouling was performed 150 kDa ceramic tubular selected. At three tested (2, 6 9), a high retention suspended matter 98% associated to low (1%). 2, volume reduction only 15% reached with permeate flux 15 L.h-1.m-2. Adsorption phenomena due formation compact gel layer pectin highly mineralized have caused severe productivity at 9 were quite similar initial 160 L.h-1.m-2 final 80%. As fractionation around 25% carbohydrate content measured 6, this specific seems be more relevant than where 7% retained. Furthermore removable mainly by agglomerates.

Biological treatment of olive mill wastewater by non-conventional yeasts.
The ability of lipolytic yeasts to grow on olive mill wastewater (OMW)-based medium and to produce high-value compounds while degrading this waste, was tested. OMW collected from three-phase olive mills from the North region of Portugal were characterized and used. OMW with COD ranging from 100 g L(-1) to 200 g L(-1) were supplemented with yeast extract and ammonium chloride. Studies of OMW con...

Olive mill wastewater (OMW) characteristics make it a suitable resource to be used as a microbial culture media to produce value-added compounds, such as enzymes. In this work, the ability of the novel species Aspergillus ibericus to discolor OMW and produce lipase was studied. An initial screening on plates containing an OMW-based agar medium and an emulsified olive oil/rhodamine-B agar medium...

A photocatalytic reactor with UV/TiO2 was used for the posttreatment of olive mill wastewater after anaerobic digestion. A factorial experimental design was adopted to determine the statistical significance of each parameter tested, namely, initial chemical oxygen demand (COD), pH, treatment time and recirculation flow and possible interactions in three response variables: phenols, color and CO...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Activity of Olive Mill Waters (Alpechin) and Biotransformed Mill Wastewater Waste- Olive Oil
Olive oil extraction produces a great volume of residue. These olive mill wastes are known as alpechin. This wastewater is a powerful pollutant, resistant to degradation and presents a severe environmental problem related to its high organic content made up largely of simple phenolic compounds, that have been described as being both antimicrobial and phytotoxic. This paper reviews briefly the a...
